The youth movement since its birth in Europe in 2005 has been growing in strength and size. The movement has spread to America and Australia last year with each hosting their own youth retreats. This year the movement has AYUDH Mumbai, AYUDH Mauritius (http://www.ayudh.eu/2009/mauritius/ ) and AYUDH Kenya adding to its growing list of participants.
YOUTH IN ACTION 2009:
5th European Youth Exchange
From 19th to 26th July 2009 young people from all over Europe flocked to the M.A. Center Germany to participate in the 5th annual European Youth Exchange. “Give Peace a Chance” was the theme of the week, which for the third time was generously funded by the EU’s “Youth in Action” programme. Organic compost workshop by AYUDH Mumbai
7th June 2009, Mumbai
On July 7th 2009, Ayudh Mumbai organized its first organic compost workshop at Amrita Garden, M.A.M Mumbai, under the able support of Br. Avyamrita Chaitanya. This workshop was inspired by Amma, who has been encouraging everyone to serve nature through activities such as planting trees, starting vegetable gardens, thus being in harmony with the oneness that pervades all of creation and thereby restoring the lost balance in the nature. Around 30 Ayudh members actively participated in the workshop, which was led by Mr. Peter Allen Ash, an expert from the ecology team in Amritapuri. He shared his knowledge with regards to the methods of composting to the Ayudh members.
AYUDH is Amma's International Youth group.
Recent Ayudh Ireland events
have included a three-day music festival; two diverse Irish groups'
participation in the Parisian Peace Concert; International Peace Day
celebrations in schools; fundraising dinners; a school non-uniform day;
and a children-led car wash.
For the year ahead, our plans include
an AYUDH celtic gospel choir (ourselves and the Scotland Ayudh group!);
Carnstock '09 Music Festival; tree planting and ecological
awareness/GreenFriends™ programmes; work with local homeless care
organisations; visiting old age homes and cookie baking,

AYUDH Europe Youth Retreat 2008:
Several representatives of Ayudh Ireland attended the annual Europe youth meet this summer. Simone reports:
"Spending time with people who are enthusiastic and committed to
bring positive change to the world is really refreshing. The topic 'The
Future in Our Hands' was very well explored; practical tips and
inspiration encouraged all to grab the future with both hands and to be
the change we want to see.
The gathering of people from all over Europe created a very diverse
network, a nesting bed for ideas and great future Europe-wide plans. It
was a very exciting experience; AYUDH's potential to reach out and
bring positive change to our world became more apparent with every
second.
Being present in such a positive atmosphere, I feel like I was
recharged with positive energy. In myself and the five other
participants from this country, I can see how this energy is spreading
in our community. So many people are interested to know what we did,
and intrigued that such a multitude of young people have such
commitment and courage to bring change. Already looking forward to next
year!"
